About the Chingon Award
The Chingon Award was established to recognize individuals who, through fearless leadership and visionary work, advocate for justice, equity, and visibility for Latinos. Whether through public service, grassroots organizing, or cultural expression, our honorees reflect the soul of our community and the fight we carry forward every day.
2025 has demonstrated that Latinos are under attack and we need to fight and protect our community, and it starts with the resources that will help push voter engagement at the ballot box. Making our 2025 Chingon awards critical in creating a space for us to celebrate those who stand strong for community and democracy.

Avance will host our Annual Avance Chingon Awards on January 12th, 2024, at the iconic Plaza de la Raza. This year's Chingon Awards honorees include California Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, State Senator Martha Escutia (ret.), and Avance Political Director Lester Aponte.
